About The Tour

The itinerary for this day long tour includes a number of locations around Dublin and Kildare that remain closely associated with Arthur Guinness, his wider family and his social/business circle.

While the main focus will be on Arthur as a brewer, businessman, family man and property owner, the tour will also provide participants with an insight into wider culture and society in 18 th century Dublin through a focus on the civic spaces, buildings, monuments and public sculpture that were new additions to the city in 18 th Century and with which he would have been familiar

Meet Your Guides

Reg Mc Cabe

Reg McCabe is a writer, local historian and qualified tour guide with many years of experience conducting tours in and around Dublin for a wide variety of groups and individuals. Reg's previous clients include Friends of the National Gallery, the Liberties Festival, Culture Date with Dublin 8, the Industrial Archaeology Association and the Old Liffey Ferry, He has also worked for a number of incoming agents including Maloney & Kelly/Abbey Travel.

He currently works as a volunteer guide at St Patrick's Cathedral and has also worked in a similar capacity in Dublinia and Marsh's Library.

Since the late 19th century, three generations of his immediate family have worked in the Guinness brewery and this long family association, along with his extensive research into the social and economic history of Ireland's foremost brewing family, makes him uniquely qualified as partner in the new Arthur's Tour experience.

Tom Young

Tom Young’s career came full circle when he returned to The Liberties, where he first began working in 1972 at Powers Distillery. Today, he is the proud owner of The Liberty Belle pub. With over a decade of experience touring Ireland, Tom shares his deep passion for history with visitors from around the world, particularly American groups. His aim is for every guest to leave with an outstanding and unforgettable experience.

We have sourced a luxurious 20 seater Mercedes mini van. The bus is designed with comfort in mind. This is very important to us as it will be a critical part of our tour. The bus will be Mic'ed up so the driver can be heard clearly. Screens will be fitted to show maps and short videos. The bus will also be Wi-Fi enabled which is vital.
